Colorado

Sporadic groups or individuals have managed to survive in Colorado for short periods of time, but there aren't any long term established groups.

Colorado Springs

Remarkably, one pair of Monks apparently escaped from captivity in April 1997 and built what the local newspaper The Gazette referred to as, " . . . a massive bird condo atop a power line in the Hillside Neighborhood."

They survived a blizzard the following October, but as of February 1998, were slated to be recaptured and the nest removed from the power pole.

They had two babies, but the fate of these two isn't known.

There be be an update about these birds sometime this fall.
